Raita

Raita (noun.) is a type of condiment offered with a meal or appetizers. Chutneys, raita, poppadum and achaar, or pickles are often served in a thali meal with a set of different types of vegetables, rice and roti. Raita is made from yoghurt mixed with vegetables, fruits or boondi (fried drops of chickpea flour batter). 

It is often eaten as a part of the main meal and can be prepared with raw or cooked vegetables or with seasonal fruits that is dipped in curd and refrigerated to get chilled flavoured raita that is served with spicy hot main dish. A popular version in the west of raita is tzatziki that is thicker plain greek yoghurt but raita is fluid, salted and flavoured with the added stuff.
