Shahjeera (noun.) (A Eurasian herb, in English, called Black Cumin Seeds, scientific name Nigella sativa) belongs to the buttercup family of the flowering plants. It can grow up to 12 inches and produce flavourful spice that is widely used in global cuisine. Nigella Sativa has a rich historical and religious background. It resembles brown cumin seeds but is smaller, thinner and black. It is less pungent, flavourful and certain health benefits (when consumed in regulated amount).
