BhindiBhaji (noun.) – Also called lady's finger, bamia, or gumbo, it is the okra used in Indian cooking where the green pods are eaten as vegetables. Okra belongs to the flowering plant in the mallow family. It has edible green seed pods which are widely used in the Indian subcontinent for preparation of many dishes.
The geographical origin is believed to be from Guatemalan, West African, Ethiopian or Bangladeshi. The plant is cultivated in tropical, subtropical and warm temperate regions around the world. Bhindi Masala is a Gluten-free vegan Indian recipe prepared from okra, onion, tomatoes & spices.
