Anardana (Pomegranate Seeds (Dried) is used to give a sour-sweet taste to any tangy recipe. It is made from dried seeds of pomegranate fruit (Punica granatum) where the seeds are dried and the pulp is used to prepare the anaar dana curries with jaggery (gur) and herbs.
It can be added to lentils and vegetable dishes to give it a sour taste just like tamarind (imli). It is often added to north Indian dishes like chole and tarka daal.
Pomegranate powder can be used to flavour soups, stews, biryanis and kebabs. Stir a spoonful or two into fruit juices, smoothies or yoghurt for an easy nutrient boost. Pomegranate is an extremely healthy fruit added to many tangy delicious snacks and cooling juices.
