Aloo (Noun.), is the Hindi word for Potato. Scientifically, it is the edible root of one of the varieties of Amorphophallus paeoniifolius. Indians prepare several stir-fries and curry dishes from potatoes, or by mixing potatoes with other vegetables like cauliflower and spinach.
They also prepare non-vegetarian recipes by cooking potatoes with chicken and meat curries. Some of the popular aloo dishes are aloo gobi (spiced potatoes and cauliflower), saag aloo (curried potatoes and spinach), and aloo tikki (Indian version of a potato pancake).
